Social Studies 06, version 04 (Print)

Social Studies 6 examines four main areas in the study of people and countries around the world—cultures, governments, environments, and economics. This program encourages students to consider a variety of view points on how people live and how cultures differ. Skills in mapping and graphing, critical thinking, problem solving, research and note-taking are developed in conjunction with activities focusing on the core themes.

This program is based on the prescribed learning outcomes of the Ministry of Education. Students are encouraged to use a variety of resources and references to broaden their understanding and support their learning.

Some of the learning resources associated with this module may be unavailable from our publisher or no longer stocked due to no/low sales. Modules can be used without the learning resources on a limited basis, particularly with respect to projects and activities. The new SS 6 program is project and activity based, and the assignments are marked using scoring rubrics. This type of marking for this grade level has been mandated by the Ministry of Education based on Performance Standards.
